Don’t Delay Your Greatness!

Don’t delay your greatness another day, step into the best of who you could be today.

Easier said then done? Well, let’s see…

What holds us back

What holds us back from living a life of excellence? Perhaps we believe that this is reserved for a select few high achievers? Maybe we’re afraid that we don’t have the time or resources to live an extraordinary life? Perhaps you’ve tried living a structured disciplined life and it exhausted you?

For most, shying away from greatness often results in a desire to stay in our comfort zones.  Sometimes, it’s easier to tow the line of what we know than it is to radically change things up.  There’s safety in the mundane but there isn’t excitement! I don’t know about you, but I’d rather live a life that requires challenge, courage and discipline than a life of expectant boredom.

How do we go about changing things up?

Paint of picture of the status quo.

What would life look like a year from now if your physical energy, health, career and relationships were exactly the way they are today? What about if your life was a carbon copy of today five years from how? What about ten.

When you conjure up this image in your mind does it make you feel excited and proud or depressed and perhaps even a little shaken up by the exercise.

I truly believe we all want more. Even if we’re in amazing relationships, take care of our bodies and perform a job well, I believe each of us wants to progress beyond where they are today.

Take the time to visualize

Now for the fun part! Imagine your life a year from now, if you were the healthiest you’ve ever been. Imagine what work looks like if you’re at the top of your game in your dream position. What does life look like if your financials are radically different for the better a year from now?

Take the time to visualize what you want this to look like. Take some notes, write down that ideal life and picture it in your mind’s eye!

You need a plan

Next, get to work on a plan. What daily habits will you need to implement that are in line with your new values and identity? What new disciplines or structured routines will you need to set in motion? How will you know you’re winning? Create a scorecard so that at the end of each day you can evaluate whether you hit or missed the mark. Do so on a weekly and monthly basis for the most effective and accelerated outcome because we know what gets measured, gets improved.

Be patient

Lastly, be patient with yourself. You and I are going to fall off the wagon even when we have the best of intentions. It’s called being human. The key is to let those lapses happen quickly and get right back on track because your future self will thank you for believing in you and getting back in the game!

What small step can you take today to get yourself closer to that
