Be BOLD and reach your dreams!

We need to be bold to reach our dreams.

When I say bold, it will have a different meaning for each of us. For some, being bold is having a difficult conversation. For others, it may mean leaving a job or partner to pursue a dream. Some may consider leaving the country bold, while others may consider speaking up in a meeting to be bold action. Each of us will face circumstances that require us to be bold to reach our goals and live our full potential.

In High Performance Coaching™ we talk about living a fully charged life! Part of that life is living with boldness. We can live in a place where we feel caged, as though we don’t have control and we’re not living anywhere near our potential. Then we can live a comfortable life, where we go through the motions, nothing too daring, nothing too exciting either. I would encourage us to live a fully charged life and that requires being bold!

B – Brazen Action

When I looked up the definition of brazen it was tied to recklessness or shameless pursuit. In this context, think of this as not pursuing your dreams to the detriment of others, but rather a shameless pursuit of the fire that is on your heart. Brazen action here is outright determination and recklessly abandoning your doubts to reach your goal. In the pursuit of our goals and dreams, high performers, do no harm and they are bold in their quest!

O – Outside of Comfort Zones

To achieve our next level of greatness, we will need to get outside of our comfort zones because we need to try something new to realize something new. One of the most empowering ways that you can get outside of your comfort zone is to do so in a controlled way to build stamina for life’s challenges. If you’re pursuing a goal, you will hit roadblocks which is where most people give up.

As a high performer, you will stay focused and determined and able to manage the setback when you build resilience through intentional discomfort. I do this daily while working out or with my new love/hate habit of ice baths. What starts off as mental and physical anguish turns into an almost state of euphoria. Did the conditions change? No. I adjust to the temperature and focus on the strength that an ice bath is building. I have a long way to go in making this a regular practice and loving it, maybe I never will, but the intentional discomfort equips me to deal with inbound challenges.

Get out of your comfort zone!

L – Leverage Strengths

Too often we focus on our weaknesses. We look at what we’re lacking in terms of skills or resources instead of focusing on our strengths. Leverage your strengths and the strengths of those around you to get you closer to your goal. Ask for help and delegate out the things you’re not good at instead of spinning your wheels trying to master something outside of your wheelhouse. You have strengths for a reason, focus on those and use them in a bold way. Feeling in a rut or forgotten your strengths? Write a list of all the challenges you’ve faced in life and how you’ve conquered them in the past.

D – Determination

Your goal won’t be easy, if it is, then I would venture to say you’re not stretching yourself enough. Bold goals take grit, resilience, struggle, and determination. You and I will get knocked down, but we need to be determined if we are going to reach our big hairy audacious goals to get up again and again.

What bold move can you make today that will get you one step closer to a fully charged life?
