Change your mindset, change your life!

Most people don’t realize the incredible power they have to change their lives in an instant.  The most powerful tool each one of us has is the immense power of our minds.

Unfortunately, most people react to the inner dialogue which is typically negative rather than consciously redirecting their thoughts in a positive way. The good news is anyone can change their lives dramatically by changing how they think.

Now I’m not going to tell you WHAT to think, there’s a big difference there. I’m going to share HOW other successful people think and you can decide what resonates with you.

Here are some of the lessons that I’ve learned the most successful people do!

Clearly Defined Goals

The most successful people in the world have clearly defined goals. They know what they want out of life, where they’re headed, and the steps required to get there! When we’re striving towards something bigger than ourselves that makes us stretch and grow, we feel most fulfilled. If you’re unsure what that goal may be, ask yourself what you really want and then make that dream a bit bigger than you originally thought and then get to work on achieving it!

Positive Mindset

The highest achievers have a positive mindset. They understand that what they put out, they get back in return. This shapes their interactions with others. They know that if they assume the other person will respond well to meeting them and show up with magnetic energy, the other person will respond accordingly. They also believe that success is a natural outcome and assume the best will happen. It’s not that they are free from life’s challenges, but they embrace the change and adversity and look at what they can learn from the experience.

Abundant Mindset

Achievers see abundance all around them! They don’t have a scarcity mentality where they resent others who are successful. They don’t buy in to the notion that if you win, I lose. In the achiever’s mind, we can all win and there’s more than enough to go around. They are also incredibly generous with their resources.

They Use Critical Thinking Skills

Leaders have a strong, clear mind and they don’t outsource their thinking to influencers of the day, news, and other media. They think clearly and critically on both sides of the story and often swim upstream. As C.S. Lewis famously said, “When the whole world is running towards a cliff, he who is running in the opposite direction appears to have lost his mind.” History reminds us that the critical thinkers often stand up against the crowd and become leaders and advocates when it’s more important.

They Choose Associates Wisely

Birds of a feather flock together. We’ve all heard that expression but often don’t analyze what that really means and think about how important our associations are. Jim Rohn reminded us that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. If you’re surrounded by exceptional A-players – awesome! If you need to thin the herd, ease up on the people you’re spending time with who aren’t focused on growth or don’t support your goals and dreams. There are exceptional people from all walks of life and all income brackets so please don’t mistake this as surrounding yourself with five other six-figure earners. This is about people who will make you want to strive for more, support your dreams and challenge you to be your best self.

Give, Give, Give

The most successful people are generous with their time, money and resources and know that giving is critical to their success and happiness. They also know that they must give more than they wish to receive professionally and personally. At work, they do more than is expected, at home they make significant deposits in the relationship bank by giving more and never keeping score. Their mindset is firm, they believe that as you sow, so shall you reap!

Growth Mindset

Leaders and achievers are constantly learning and growing. They continue to enroll in courses, listen to podcasts, read inspirational books, and skill up while the majority of the world never opens a book after college. This seeking to find growth and a new level separates them from the rest. They become experts in their field while remaining a humble student, always open to counselling and guidance.

Live Intentionally

If we consider that the hours create the days, the days create weeks, months, and years, we can also assume that our daily actions directly impact the story of our life. The highest achievers recognize that every single day counts. They are intentional about how they want to show up for themselves and bring the most value to others. They set intentions before interactions and manage their energy well so that they have the stamina to play full out. They know what they want, how they want to act and do their best to emulate the best of who they could be daily.

As you can see, the world’s most successful people think differently, and we all have the capacity to do so! Of all the mindset shifts you may have read above, which one resonates the most and which new way of thinking will you adopt today? Share your comments below!
