Success Leaves Clues

This was one of the first major lessons I learned at the beginning of my career. Since then, I’ve been studying high performers and devouring their content! What I’ve noticed is that the highest achievers aren’t lucky. In fact, many came from dire situations and rose out of unspeakable adversity. They weren’t special, in fact some were treated so poorly early on in life that you wouldn’t fault them for being bitter or for having a victim mentality.

What I found in the highest achievers is that they have different habits and higher expectations of themselves that produce intentional and exceptional results!

When we’re not paying attention, we can drift through life and miss some pretty epic clues to leading a fully engaged and charged up life!

As a Certified High Performance Coach™ as well as a student in high performance, here’s what I’ve noticed about high performers…

They have strong habits!

Most are dedicated to a morning ritual that includes waking up early (Ya’ll there’s a reason that the lights come on first in the penthouse), spending time in gratitude, prayer and mediation. They are fully present in the moment. They look at the day ahead and they are intentional about how they want to show up. They also most likely have a strong exercise routine and buy in to the notion that we “create” energy and therefore will never likely feel like working out. They make it happen!

They are proactive and intentional about life!

Most achievers design a life that is very intentional. They have dedicated time to learn from other achievers. They know the kind of life that they want to live. They often have vision boards, visible goals that they regularly visit and they work with a coach and mentor that will challenge them to think even bigger!

Their habits carry them through the dark times!

When you’re consistent day in and day out and follow a positive routine, that routine takes over during the darkest of times. I noticed this with several of my coaching clients. They had their best year ever during 2020! Say what?! Yes! Why? Because they had positive habits in place which meant that when their professional routine was thrown out of wack, their morning routine stayed intact. Many report that it was a lifesaver having their body in such a routine sequence that their habits took over and they started the day in a positive place during what could have been a time to let negativity seep in.

They are constantly growing!

You don’t have to watch a high performer for too long to notice that they are perpetual learners! Always evolving and growing; reading inspirational books. They are listening to podcasts or taking online courses while their friends are watching TV or hanging out.
