Renew Your Strength

How do you renew your strength when you're completely out of steam? I'm going to share with you a couple of ideas that I find to be really helpful because I’ve been there too!  I have the best of intentions, I’m fired right up and then, well, it fizzles!

Number one is to revisit your goals often. Most of the time we write out goals and then we tuck them away in a drawer and we forget about them. I'll admit something very cool does happen when you do that and you find your goals accomplished years later, but it’s not as powerful as revisiting them each and every day!

The second thing is to maybe set a new goal. Perhaps your existing goal isn't getting you excited, and you look need to look at a new goal that's going to stretch you, that's going to require courage, that's going to require you to level up, and this may just get you renewed and excited again.

The third thing is to make a checklist of all the things that you've done already. Go through all your past successes that have contributed towards your goal and see the momentum that you have already made. Sometimes when we look at what we've done in the past, it helps us realize that perhaps we did things we didn't know how to do originally.  We tackled them, we figured it out and so it will help us feel renewed as we look at what’s ahead. Remember that everyone who ever accomplished anything started out as an amateur. You’ll figure it out!

The next thing to do is to visualize! Make sure that you take time to look at a vision board to have absolute clarity on what it is you want! I like to visualize how things look in the future in my mind’s eye. What do I feel like? What am I wearing? What am I doing? Who am I surrounding myself with? What am I feeling in that moment once I’ve reached my ultimate goal?

The next thing that you can do to renew your strength is to either pray or meditate. I started meditating recently and it has been an incredible addition to prayer. Both provide a calming stillness as a way to gain strength from a higher power and to seek wisdom.

The last step is to use a mantra. We fill our minds with negativity, instead you need to take control of your thoughts, that inner voice and strengthen your resolve with a strong mantra that inspires you. One of my colleagues’ mantras is: “I can do hard things!” Find your mantra, regain a sense of hope and optimism as you push towards your goal.

As always, we welcome feedback on ideas on how to renew your strength. Feel free to share your insights with our growing community.
