Energy Management

I’ll be honest with y’all! I’ve been struggling a lot lately.  There have been about half a dozen life changes and crises happening at the same time.  While most have been positive, the negative ones have beaten me down.

This may surprise you given that I’m a high-performance coach. It has been small compromises in my training program that have led me here. I know this to be true, because I have navigated crises in the past while maintaining my perspective, a positive outlook, and healthy routine.

So, what went wrong this time around?

I allowed myself to take on a victim mentality and I stopped doing the basics that drive high performance.

Now don’t get me wrong, if you saw the laundry list of challenges perhaps you would say that my victim mentality was warranted. It was not and is not and today is a new day.

Today, I choose to manage my energy, to look for the good and the lessons. Today, I choose to get back to the basics, the habits that serve me so well and most importantly to manage my energy!

  1. Physical energy

To perform at a high level, we need beautiful fresh whole foods to fuel us.  Little by little I compromised here finding comfort in the snacks and treats which provided a quick high but ultimately drained my energy. I showed up for my workouts but went through the motions.  Now I will bring joy and vibrancy again to see the gains!

  1. Emotional energy

We must guard our minds by avoiding drama and distractions by learning to recognize them as false obligations in order to reach a level of peak performance. I slipped here.  Getting pulled in to catastrophizing challenges, that yes, required grit and strength, but were not insurmountable. Today, I will regulate my emotions by stopping to breathe, take a break, do a release meditation, or get outside and take in some fresh air. All things I used to do, but stopped doing!

  1. Spiritual energy

I truly believe that peace comes from a connection to your creator and being fully present in the moment. I became so busy tackling the challenges, I forgot to relinquish the things I cannot control and trust a higher power. I stopped my morning meditations so I could rush off to conquer the next fire I anticipated.  I paid the price of unnecessary anxiety and sleepless nights.  Now, I will act on the things I can control and release the need to control the things that are out of my hands. I will trust, life is unfolding as it should and vie this from a place of anticipation for a bright future!

The beautiful thing about high performance is, it can be picked back up immediately and that is my commitment today. You can do it too! Its not too late, never too late, actually, and I invite you to join me on this journey, today being day one vs. one day!

This morning, I started with journaling what my return to high performance living would look like and then made a verbal commitment and asked for accountability from my husband. I also visualized when I was feeling at my best and made of list of the high-performance habits I committed to. I then scheduled those in my calendar and started ticking off the list, immediately.

If you’re feeling in a funk, or don’t know where to start, I hear you, I see you and I would be happy to help you on your way.  Feel free to DM me to set up a high-performance session with me because this isn’t something reserved for the elite.  An excellent life is available to me and you. People who start and stop, stumble, and fall, but those who are willing to dust themselves off and start again. Why? Because you and I and worth it!

Cheering you on!

Coach Nikki
